Indoor skydiving
October 12th, 2008 by John DalyLast week I took part in what I guess, can best be described as a team building activity. As one of the senior managers from Boston was out on a visit, my manager thought it would be a good idea if we all went indoor skydiving.
For those of you who have not heard of this activity basically it consists of entering a wind tunnel where wind is passed through at high speeds which can simulate flying for a particular user.
When we arrived we were shown a quick introductory video which detailed the basic position to be assumed and some hand signals that can be given within the wind tunnel.
The basic position is to have both hands out stretched and pointing upwards, chin up, waist thrust forwards and legs bent at the knees or straight.
The experience itself was amazing and it really did feel that I was plummeting to my death and at one time as you can see below I nearly did ;).
I felt that I did not have much control and the slightest movement offset my balance. Some of my co workers took to it better than I did but it was a good laugh.
So if you are afraid to try the real thing and have a few extra bucks to spare check out : IFLY
